Evidence-Based Care for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress

About Us

Individual Therapy

You deserve to be free from the burdens of anxiety, worry, OCD, PTSD/traumatic stress, and depression. Unfortunately, many therapists don't have the experience and training necessary to help you make the changes you need. The California Center for Anxiety Traumatic Stress was formed to fill this gap in quality, evidence-based care. Our team of elite clinicians are not only validating and supportive (the foundations of any good therapy), but are specially trained in gold-standard treatments for these difficulties.

All of our staff are experts in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and have worked at specialty clinics at the University of California, Los Angeles or Veteran’s Affairs Hospitals. In addition, our staff supervise and train others in evidence-based treatments and engage in research aimed at improving CBT. Therefore, you can be assured that you are receiving cutting-edge treatments from experts you can trust.

Our clients include busy professionals who can’t stop worrying, individuals struggling with social anxiety or panic attacks, survivors of sexual assault, and other individuals whose anxiety has greatly impacted their ability to work, study, and enjoy life. What unites them all is a desire for expert care to be free from the burdens of anxiety and depression and to reclaim their lives.

We are committed to helping clients throughout California (including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego) ease the pain that comes with anxiety, traumatic stress, and depression.

Consultation for Mental Health Professionals

Given our staff’s expertise, we offer short-term consultation for mental health providers applying exposure therapy and CBT. All of our staff are experienced trainers and supervisors.

We have particular expertise in associative learning models of exposure therapy (inhibitory learning/inhibitory retrieval models). Several members of our team are active in research examining associative learning models of exposure therapy, and regularly supervise and train providers in providing exposure therapy from an inhibitory learning/inhibitory retrieval model.

Couples Therapy

We want to help you and your partner get “unstuck” from the challenges and patterns that are getting in the way of your relationship. We will work with you using Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT - an evidence-based treatment for couples experiencing relationship distress and dissatisfaction) in order to help you better understand both the natural differences between you and your partner, as well as the sensitivities you both have in your relationship. Feeling more empathy for each other can help you and your partner to feel closer and happier together, and it lays the foundation for you both to make lasting changes in your relationship – not because an outside person (or therapist) instructed you to change, but because you are motivated to work together, as a team, to make meaningful changes.
